Day of the Dead makeup 2015

This post has been sitting in my drafts for a while. Better late than never. I love Dia de los Muertos. I like that I can claim this holiday as part of my culture. Sugar skull makeup isn’t easy for me because I’m not an artist, but since my makeup collection has grown, I have more tools to make it look more elaborate than the first times I tried it. Everything I used is stuff from my normal makeup stash (no Halloween makeup) with the exception of the white face paint which I bought for my son’s Joker costume last year.

Everyone should go check out my best friend Ashlie Dawn Nelson’s (@ashensorrow on Instagram) Society6 store. She collaborates with her husband Sean and has beautiful products featuring their art for sale. She sent me this gorgeous canvas tote bag with their piece “Under a Full Moon” and I absolutely LOVE it. (does not include Halloween buttons!)
